The Blood Connection unveils Bloodhound, a new bloodmobile for Greenville County
The 5AM Greer team
If you've been meaning to give blood, the timing is good. The Blood Connection unveiled a new bloodmobile named Bloodhound Wednesday in downtown Greenville, paid for with a grant from the Greenville Health Authority. The community picked the name in a vote through 6AM City. The Blood Connection says it fits because, like a bloodhound, the team has a knack for tracking down donors.

Elliott Kelley, the group's director of marketing and public relations, said bloodmobiles are on the road every day of the year, and that wears them down. Donations usually drop during the holidays, and he said travel can mean more crashes and more patients who need blood. Type O donors, especially O negative, are always in high demand.
